En un entorno econ\u00f3mico cada vez m\u00e1s globalizado y competitivo, del que forman parte las actividades tur\u00edsticas, resulta evidente la necesidad de adaptaci\u00f3n de los destinos litorales consolidados a los nuevos escenarios, para mantener cuotas de competitividad a la vez que alcanzar objetivos de sostenibilidad. En este contexto, el proyecto parte de la hip\u00f3tesis de que en los destinos maduros existe un sistema de relaciones escasamente analizado y, por tanto, optimizado: relaciones entre territorios y recursos cuya complementariedad permitir\u00eda abrir nuevas perspectivas tur\u00edsticas y funcionales; y relaciones entre agentes tur\u00edsticos localizados en un \u00e1mbito geogr\u00e1fico determinado de cuya cooperaci\u00f3n podr\u00edan surgir procesos de innovaci\u00f3n, consiguiendo al mismo tiempo mejorar su competitividad social, ambiental y econ\u00f3mica. Este sistema de interacci\u00f3n, relaciones y flujo de conocimiento en el que confluye lo p\u00fablico y lo privado, deriva en el concepto de distrito o\u00a0<\/span>cluster<\/em>\u00a0tur\u00edstico, entendido como grupos de afinidad en un territorio geogr\u00e1fico delimitado y en el que es posible encontrar la base de la innovaci\u00f3n, un concepto clave mediante el cual el proyecto trata de analizar y sentar bases para la competitividad territorial.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Summary<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In a growing competitive and globalised economic scene of which tourist activities are part of, it is evident the need for the mature coastal destinations to adapt to the new scenario in order to maintain their competitiveness and meet their sustainability objectives. In such a context, this project considers as an initial hypothesis that in these mature destinations exist a network of relations that has been scarcely analysed and therefore optimised: relations between territories and resources that could be complementary adding thus new tourist and functional perspectives; and relations between tourist agents localised in an specific geographical area whose co-operation could end up in an innovation process and at the same time improving their social, environmental and economic competitiveness. This network of relations, interactions and knowledge flow, in which public and private interests come together, derives in the concept of tourist district or cluster conceived as related groups in an specific geographical area where the base for innovation can be found, being innovation a key concept to analyse and lay the foundations of territorial competitiveness.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

De este modo, se pretende dar respuesta a diferentes problemas e interrogantes tales como la posibilidad de mejorar el actual sistema de relaciones establecido entre destinos y agentes tur\u00edsticos, o si es posible convertir el modelo te\u00f3rico del\u00a0cl\u00faster\u00a0<\/em>en una herramienta operativa para reorganizar territorial y funcionalmente las \u00e1reas tur\u00edsticas consolidadas y hacer de la innovaci\u00f3n su eje estrat\u00e9gico y de mejora.<\/p>\n

Thus, it is the aim of this project to give answer to different problems and questions such as the chances to improve the current network of relations between tourist destinations and agents or the chances to turn the cluster in a useful and operative tool to reorganise the consolidated tourist areas in a territorial and functional basis with the innovation as their main strategy<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

El proyecto, adem\u00e1s de las bases te\u00f3ricas y conceptuales que lo enmarcan y que sustentan la metodolog\u00eda, se concreta y aplica mediante el an\u00e1lisis de dos estudios de caso seleccionados en el litoral mediterr\u00e1neo espa\u00f1ol, la ciudad de Benidorm y su entorno comarcal, en la Comunidad Valenciana, y la Manga del Mar Menor y su \u00e1rea de influencia, en la Regi\u00f3n de Murcia. En cuanto a las fases del trabajo, se estructura en la creaci\u00f3n de un marco conceptual, la delimitaci\u00f3n del distrito o\u00a0<\/span>cl\u00faster<\/em>\u00a0innovador y las propuestas para su efectiva configuraci\u00f3n y, finalmente, una fase de transferencia de resultados. El equipo solicitante, adscrito a un centro espec\u00edfico y multidisciplinar de investigaci\u00f3n tur\u00edstica, cuenta con una dilatada trayectoria en el an\u00e1lisis territorial del turismo y la econom\u00eda del turismo, con proyectos competitivos que han generado capacidades y experiencias previas en la l\u00ednea de competitividad en \u00e1reas tur\u00edsticas consolidadas, complementariedad territorial, innovaci\u00f3n, gobernanza y sostenibilidad en turismo.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project, additionally to the theoretical and conceptual basis that\u00a0support the methodology, becomes more specific through the analysis of two case-study selected in the Spanish Mediterranean coast, specifically the tourist destination of Benidorm and its surrounding area in the Valencia Region and Manga del Mar Menor with its influence area in the Region of Murcia. As for the working stages, the project is organised in a conceptual framework, the delimitation of the innovative tourist cluster and the proposals for its effective configuration and, in a final stage, knowledge transfer. The applicant team of researchers belongs to a specific and cross-disciplinary centre for tourism research and has proved to have a successful evolution in the territorial analyses of tourism and tourism economics through competitive projects that have generated abilities and previous experiences in the line of competitiveness of consolidated tourist areas, complementary territories, innovation, governance and sustainability.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
