Hasta 1433 ense\u00f1\u00f3 en Pav\u00eda, residi\u00f3 en diversas ciudades italianas y se estableci\u00f3 en N\u00e1poles (1437), bajo la protecci\u00f3n de Alfonso V de Arag\u00f3n. Nombrado secretario apost\u00f3lico (1448), fue a Roma. Difundi\u00f3 y tradujo textos griegos y latinos, y busc\u00f3 conciliar el paganismo cl\u00e1sico con la fe cristiana (<i>De voluptate<\/i>, 1431). Latinista (<i>E<\/i><i>legantiae linguae latinae<\/i>, 1444) y cr\u00edtico hacia el aristotelismo medieval (<i>Disputationes dialecticae<\/i>, 1439), incentiv\u00f3 la cr\u00edtica textual (<i>In Novum Testamentum adnotationes<\/i>, 1449). Su <i>De falso credita et ementita Constantini donatione declamatio<\/i> (1440), que negaba que \u00e9ste hubiera dado a la Iglesia territorio alguno, fue muy discutida por cuestionar el poder temporal del papa.
