Nacido hacia el a\u00f1o <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1466\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>1466<\/strong><\/a> en la ciudad de <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/R%C3%B3terdam#Historia\" target=\"_blank\">Rotterdam<\/a><\/strong> y muri\u00f3 en <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Basilea#Historia\" target=\"_blank\">Basilea<\/a><\/strong> en <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1536\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>1536<\/strong><\/a>. Su formaci\u00f3n religiosa le llev\u00f3 a ser <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Can%C3%B3nigos_regulares_de_san_Agust%C3%ADn\" target=\"_blank\">cl\u00e9rigo agustiniano<\/a><\/strong> y m\u00e1s tarde sacerdote, aunque su experiencia religiosa y su esp\u00edritu cr\u00edtico pronto le generaron un <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Escepticismo#Escepticismo_religioso\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>escepticismo<\/strong><\/a> a la vida e instituci\u00f3n religiosas de su tiempo donde las verdaderas cuestiones religiosas hab\u00edan sido absorbidas por ocupaciones temporales.<\/p>\n<p>Ese desencant\u00f3 con la <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Catolicismo\" target=\"_blank\">religi\u00f3n cat\u00f3lica<\/a><\/strong> fue quiz\u00e1s el aguij\u00f3n para dedicarse a las letras y su labor de <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordreference.com\/definicion\/latinista\" target=\"_blank\">latinista<\/a><\/strong>, caracter\u00edsticas principales de lo que se entender\u00e1 luego por <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Humanismo\" target=\"_blank\">humanista<\/a><\/strong>. Tras abandonar la vida religiosa viaj\u00f3 y estudi\u00f3 en <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Par%C3%ADs#Edades_Media_y_moderna\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Par\u00eds<\/strong><\/a>, en los <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pa%C3%ADses_Bajos#Pa.C3.ADses_Bajos_de_los_Habsburgo\" target=\"_blank\">Pa\u00edses Bajos<\/a><\/strong> e <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Inglaterra#Edad_Moderna_y_Contempor.C3.A1nea\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Inglaterra<\/strong><\/a> donde estuvo al amparo de sus amigos <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Juan_Colet\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>J. Colet<\/strong><\/a> y <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ua.es\/pensamientopoliticorenacentista\/category\/thomas-more\/\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Moro<\/a><\/strong>. En la residencia de este \u00faltimo compuso en <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1511\" target=\"_blank\">1511<\/a><\/strong> su c\u00e9lebre obra <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elogio_de_la_locura\" target=\"_blank\">Elogio de la locura<\/a><\/strong>, una cr\u00edtica sat\u00edrica a la Europa de su \u00e9poca.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El nombre completo de este humanista, el primero en tomar conciencia del europe\u00edsmo, fue Desiderio Erasmo de Rotterdam.
