Posee una influencia marcada de Caravaggio, de quien adoptar\u00e1 el tenebrismo. En su obra no faltan cuadros realistas; adem\u00e1s, se dedicar\u00e1 principalmenet a plasmar la profunda emoci\u00f3n religiosa de la pintura espa\u00f1ola, as\u00ed como su dominio del color y de las luces.
