It belongs to the <a href=\"http:\/\/dfests.ua.es\/en\/\">Department of Physics, Systems Engineering, and Signal Theory<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/iufacyt.ua.es\/en\/\">University Institute of Physics Applied to Sciences and Technologies<\/a>. The group comprises 3\u00a0 staff, 1 postdoc and 1 PhD student. A list of group members and contact details can be viewed <a title=\"Staff List\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ua.es\/xragua\/team\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The group originated in the early 1990s and were among the pioneers in <a title=\"intro.xray.astro\" href=\"http:\/\/www-xray.ast.cam.ac.uk\/xray_introduction\/\">space Astronomy <\/a>research in Spain. Our research activities have diversified across the whole electromagnetic spectrum into X-rays, UV, visible and infra-red Astronomy using both space and ground-based observatories.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We are part of the Spanish consortium contributing to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-athena-x-ray-observatory.eu\/\">ATHENA<\/a> (Advanced Telescope for High Energy Astrophysics), the large X-ray observatory of the next decade. We are currently focused on the scientific exploitation of X-IFU, the high resolution spectroscope on board ATHENA.
